I started using plastics because polyester and epoxy are weatherproof ánd lightweight. Because of the material used, my sculptures can therefore be placed outside without any problems. If they ever have to be resized to larger sizes, the weight will not be an issue either.
About the type of red used: it fits in well with the 'exciting lines' and the overall 'pace' of the sculptures. In China, red is the color of luck; something everyone always wants more of!
My way of designing is explained on the homepage with some pictures.
The photos of the sculptures next to this paragraph are arranged by age. 'Samenhang' is the youngest one, 'Uit-één-stuk' the oldest one. The official term used for this specific type of sculpture is 'plastics'; dimensional pieces of art which are cast. Beneath each photo, you'll find the name of the sculpture. If you click the same name in the left column, you'll find more information and photos with a bit of text beneath every picture.
